New Council Housing Site – Reading

Problem:
Groundworker needed a cost effective solution for connecting lateral pipes into the new main sewer pipeline.

Objective:
Provide a quick and cost-effective solution for connecting lateral pipes from new build homes into a new concrete sewer pipeline.

Solution:
Flexseal’s Unisaddle FA150U products were installed while the concrete pipe sections were above ground.

A leading groundworker secured a contract in Reading and were appointed to install a main sewer line for a multi-million pound council housing project in the local area. The sewer line specified was a 113m length of 675mm concrete pipe, to which 57 homes were to connect into it via a DN150 clay lateral pipe.

The groundworker needed to cut back on the material and the labour costings for the job, so decided to use saddles instead of factory cast concrete junctions. After testing various types, all failing to meet satisfactory installation or approval requirements, the groundworker was recommended the Flexseal Unisaddle FA150U product by another groundworker company.

The site manager for the project found the product datasheet and installation video on the Flexseal website and found that it was a perfect solution; it was WRc Approved, designed to fit thick walled main pipes and was quick to install.

The site manager contacted his local Flexseal Area Sales Manager for prices and subsequently placed his order as well as booking an appointment for Flexseal to demonstrate the Unisaddle to his team and oversee the first phase of installation.

The groundworker was extremely happy with both the Unisaddle and the level of support they received from Flexseal.

Overall they benefited from…
• Large reductions in material costs and improved project profitability
• Faster installation times and reduced labour
• The flexibility to place connections wherever they were needed
• The reassurance of a WRc Approved product
