If earthworks are required to repair a damaged pipe, labour time can be significantly reduced with the use of Type 2B couplings. The combination of the long proven design of Type 2B couplings and the excellent sealing properties – if the recommended torque is used – provides a durable solution for the connection of all types of pipes, whether they are concrete pipes with a rough surface or smooth-walled plastic pipes.
The shear band of the stainless steel Type 2B couplings gives the joint additional protection against shear loads that could cause misalignment of the pipes.
All type 2B couplings are basically designed for pipes of all types. You will find the following versions of the type 2B coupling in our range:
Standard Couplings: 50 – 620 mm
Our Fernco SC couplings can be used individually or in conjunction with bushes for a wide range of applications in the installation, repair and maintenance of all types of sewer pipes. The standard couplings can be used for pipes up to an outer diameter of 620 mm. The stainless steel shear band – thicker than required by the standard – provides excellent protection against heavy loads and shear forces.
Large Couplings: 300 mm – any size
Fernco’s large diameter couplings are primarily designed for connecting large diameter pipes. All large diameter couplings are individually produced and precisely adapted to the connection issue. The production is possible in 5 mm-steps.
Size of the coupling = DA pipe ± 15 mm

Large couplings are 190 mm wide as standard, but depending on the application it may be necessary to opt for a wider variant. Fernco offers the following variants from an OD of 620 mm:
